Here at St. Christopher’s Nursery, we encourage parental involvement with homework, to establish a firm partnership between school and home. In addition to this, it is important to set good habits and to show value in their homework and learning.
What homework will be given?
In Nursery and Reception, children will receive 2 reading books every Monday. They are to read every day and comments are to be made in the Reading Diary on what they learnt/their ideas/difficulties they may have had. The children will also be given a writing and a maths task based on what they have been learning that week in school. A literacy task based on phonics will also be given. Sometimes the children are set practical activities which may need the help of an adult.
When will homework be given?
Homework is given out on Monday and to be returned to school the following Monday morning.
Should parents help with homework?
Absolutely! Children learn so much from the conversations they have and will enjoy sharing what they have been learning. This is different from doing the homework for your child. Have a look at some activities below. This will give you an idea of the kinds of tasks your child will be set each week.

How will my child receive their homework tasks?
From September 2020, we shall be posting the weekly coverage overview and the homework tasks through an online portal called ‘class DOJO’.
What is ‘Class DOJO’?
Class Dojo is an online portal that gives you an insight into life at school. Each day, the Nursery team shall post work completed by your child and others in the setting. This will give you a glimpse of your child’s understanding of the skills taught that day. We shall also use Class Dojo to send messages. Please click on the link below to find out more.
