As the autumn begins to end, we prepare for the spring term. Below is a list of all the exciting events, festivals and celebrations that the children in the early years shall take part.

Welcome back assembly Tuesday 5th January 2021 The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B in welcoming everyone back to school. We shall talk about our Christmas holidays and share our home learning projects with one another.
Guru Govind Singh’s Birthday Tuesday 5th January 2021 The children shall learn all about Guru Govind Sighs life, what he did that was significant and learn all about the 5 K’s.
Visit to our Spiritual garden at the front of our school Friday 8th January 2021 The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B to visit our spiritual garden at the front of our school. Here, the children will learn what a spiritual garden is and how to look after it.
Whole school assembly Friday 8th January 2021 at 9.00 The nursery and reception children shall join the rest of the school via Zoom. They shall listen to the house captains, learn who the stars of the week are for each year group and learn about our new whole school value.
Swami Vivekananda’s birthday- founder of Yoga Tuesday 12th January 2021 The children shall be introduced to a famous Yoga teacher who lived a long time ago and founded Yoga in India.
Holocaust Memorial Friday 22nd January 2021 The children shall learn glimpses of the Holocaust and what it means to remember this event.
Nirvana Day Friday 5th February 2021 The children shall learn about the life of Siddhartha the Prince who lived a long time ago. They shall learn the significance of the Pepal tree under which Siddhartha (known as the Bhuddha) became enlightened.
Chinese New Year Celebrations Monday 8th- Friday 12th February 2021 This week, the children shall learn about the Great Animal Race that took place a long time ago to determine the Zodiac calender. The children shall take part in numerous activities related to this celebration including clay and salt dough sculpture, collage, junk modelling, construction, cooking etc.
Shrove Tuesday Monday 27th February 2021 The children shall learn why Shrove Tuesday is a significant time for Christians. We shall look closely at the ingredients needed to make pancakes and explore pancakes from around the world.
Saraswati puja Wednesday 3rd March 2021 The children shall be introduced to the Goddess Saraswati and what she symbolises in Hindu culture.
Shivratri Thursday 11th March 2021 The children shall be introduced to the God Shiva and what he symbolises. They shall listen to a simple story about good versus evil and learn why Lord Shiva drank poison to save the world.
Mother’s day Friday 12th March 2021 The children shall get ‘arty’ and make special cards and flowers for their mums!
Holi Friday 19th March 2021 The children will be taken back in time to learn all about a little boy called Prahlad who showed immense courage.
Easter Monday 22nd– 26th March 2021 This week, the children shall learn about Eater. They shall listen to the Easter story and understand the significance of the Hot cross bun. The children shall also take part in various cooking activities.
