As the summer begins to end, we prepare for the autumn term. Below is a list of all the exciting events, festivals and celebrations that the children in the early years shall take part.

Welcome back assembly Friday 3rd September 2020 at 9. 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B in welcoming everyone back to school. The nursery shall also welcome and introduce themselves to the new Reception children and show them around the classrooms.
Visit to our Spiritual garden at the front of our school Friday 11th September 2020 at 9.30 The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B to visit our spiritual garden at the front of our school. Here, the children will learn what a spiritual garden is and how to look after it.
Whole school assembly Friday 18th September 2020 at 9 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall join the rest of the school in the hall. They shall listen to the house captains, learn who the stars of the week are for each year group and learn about our whole school value.
Cooking focus ‘bread shapes’ Friday 18th September 2020 at 10 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall be taught how to manipulate a butter knife to spread ingredients on bread. They shall also use shape cutters safely to create ‘bread shapes’, linking this directly to the story of the week.
Cooking focus ‘sweet Halwa’ Friday 25th September 2020 at 10 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall learn about the holy book called ‘Guru Granth Sahib’. They shall look at images of the Golden temple and learn about the cuisine that is cooked and served by the volunteers. Together, we shall make a dessert most commonly eaten at the temple ‘Halwa’.
Cooking focus ‘Harvest soup’ Friday 2nd October 2020 at 10 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B in making ‘Harvest Soup’. The children shall learn how to use a butter knife again to slice and dice vegetables for the soup. They shall also observe how vegetables change state of matter- from solid to semi-solid.
Autumn nature walk around the school grounds Friday 2nd October 2020 at 2 0 clock The nursery and reception children shall join Miss B in an autumn walk around our school grounds. We shall look closely at the leaves, why they change colour and spot for signs of autumn.
Harvest Festival Friday 9th October 2020 at 9.30 The Nursery and Reception children shall join Miss B to learn about Harvest. They will listen to a story about farmers growing and harvesting their crops. They shall also learn the significance of giving during this time.
Book Fair Thursday 15th October 2020 at 1.30 The Nursery and Reception children shall visit the book stalls set up in the hall. They shall explore age appropriate books (without touching them!).
Black History Month assembly Friday 16th October 2020 The Nursery and Reception children shall join Miss B to learn about significant people in the past who made a difference in our society. In particular, the children shall learn about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks.
Navratri Celebrations Wednesday 28th October 2020 The children shall listen to a story all about Goddess Durga and her many forms. They shall be shown food that is eaten during these 9 days and the clothes worn by people all over the world (especially India)
Black History Month assembly Friday 30th October 2020 The Nursery and Reception children shall join the rest of the school to learn about other significant people that made a difference in the past.
Guy Fawkes day Thursday 5th November 2020 The children shall listen to a story all about Guy Fawkes, what he intended to do and the significance of fireworks on this day.
Remembrance day Friday 6th November 2020 The children shall join the rest of the school to learn about this very important day that comes each year.
Diwali celebrations Thursday 12th November 2020 The children shall listen to the story of Rama and Sita and learn the significance of light during this special time. The children shall also learn what customs are followed during this festival.
Children in Need assembly Friday 13th November 2020 The children shall join the rest of the school to learn about the charity and the significance of Pudsey bear.
Hanukkah Friday 20th November 2020 The children shall listen to a story all about the importance of the Menorah candle.
Bodhi Day Friday 27th November 2020 The children shall be introduced to Bhuddha and understand the significance of Bodhi in the lives of Buddhists all over the world.
Advent Tuesday 1st December 2020 The children shall help Miss B to put up our Christmas tree! They shall also learn what an advent is, make decorations for the tree and understand the importance of giving during this festive season
The Nativity Friday 4th December 2020 The children shall learn about the story of Christmas, the names of characters and have a go at role playing the events.
