Here is a handy list of the events we currently have planned. Further details will be circulated nearer the time.


Navratri celebrations- 8th October 2019

The children in nursery and reception shall be learning all about a celebration called Navratri (also known as Durga Puja) a festival within the Hindu faith which runs for 9 days. We shall be learning all about the traditional dances across India, make clothes and taste and make some mouth-watering dishes!


Nature walk-14th October 2019

We are off on our very first trip of the year… our nature walk around the area and visit to King Edwards Park. The preschool children shall be going with the Reception children.


Diwali experience- 28th October- 1st November 2019

The children in nursery and reception shall be learning all about the festival of Diwali. Miss B and Miss Roshni shall bring lots of food in for the children to try out as well as showing children how to make the traditional Indian sweets (called Mithai) in school. We shall learn about why Diwali is known as the festival of lights, as well as create Rangoli patterns and make clay Diwa lamps. If you would like to come in and take part in these festivities, please let a member of the EYFS team know. We would love to see you take part!


Halloween fun-31st October 2019

The children in nursery and reception shall be learning all about ‘All Hallows Eve’ and why it’s celebrated in some parts of the world in different ways. We shall be cooking, painting, weaving and designing costumes to wear when going ‘trick or treating’ in the playground. We can’t wait!


Super Market visit-29th November 2019

The preschool children will be visiting the local super market (Lidl) to buy fruit and vegetables.


Post Office visit-2nd of December 2019

The nursery and reception children will be walking to the post office. We want to find out what goes on behind the scenes so we shall talk to the postal workers to find out a little bit more. But before going, we shall learn all about letter writing and try and write letters to Santa and his elves. We will be taking our envelopes to the post office, by stamps and post them. Let’s see if we get a reply!


Nursery parents meeting- 2nd and 3rd December from 3.30-5.30

A parents meeting form shall be displayed on our parent’s information board for you to come and sign a suitable time slot to speak to a member of the EYFS team about your child’s progress in the autumn term. During this meeting, you shall receive your child’s termly report as well as targets for the spring term. The EYFS team member shall also go through strategies to help you support your child’s learning at home.


Christmas production- 4th December 2019

For those children who have taken part in our weekly Theatre bugs sessions, we shall be hosting a Christmas play in our school hall. The play is called; ‘We’re going on a Santa Hunt’. We begin our rehearsals with the reception children in October. Our teachers will also help us practice our lines, dances and songs. We hope our parents enjoy it too!


Christmas party- 12th December 2019

Out comes the Christmas tree, fill the sack with presents and watch out for the Elves! And oh did you hear that noise? It’s the sound of reindeer! The nursery and reception children look forward to celebrating the month of December with jingles and bells! We can’t wait to get together to celebrate Christmas. We thought that we would have a little party. So everyone’s invited. Bring along food and enjoy the festivities
